The main characteristics of a project are that it:

§         Is an instrument of change

§         Has a clearly defined start and end

§         Has a specific aim

§         Results in something being delivered

§         Is unique

§         Is the responsibility of a single person or body

§         Involves cost, resources and time

§         Uses a wide variety of resources and skills
